Emily Wood, M.E.M. is the coordinator for the Sustainable Innovation Center (SIC) under the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In this role, she manages the day-to-day operations of the SIC, develops interdisciplinary programs and workshops, and collaborates with students and faculty on applied research projects that support UNE’s mission of innovation for a healthy planet. 

Prior to joining UNE, Emily worked in the Land Bureau of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where she administered environmental review and permitting under the Natural Resources Protection Act (NRPA), Site Location of Development Act (SLODA), and Stormwater Management Law. Her previous roles also include environmental educator, assistant conservation agent, and graduate-level consultant conducting stakeholder analysis and program evaluation.  

Emily holds a Master of Environmental Management, and a Certificate in Geospatial Analysis from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont. Her graduate research focused on novel predictive modeling of plant poaching risk in national parks, developed in partnership with the National Park Conservation Association, The Nature Conservancy, and the National Park Service. 

Her areas of interest include geospatial analysis, environmental data analytics, science communication, and sustainable innovation. She is especially interested in creating platforms that connect applied environmental research with real-world problem solving and policy.
