UNE’s Karen Pardue gives talk on health professions education and the arts

Karen Pardue

Karen T. Pardue, Ph.D., R.N., ANEF, professor and associate dean for Academic Affairs in the Īį°®³Ō¹Ļ Westbrook College of Health Professions, delivered an invited colloquium on Thursday October 13, 2016 at the Colby College Museum of Art.

Pardue’s talk, ā€œDiscovering Synergies: Health Professions Education and the Arts,ā€ highlighted the complementary approaches to visual analysis and elements of design used by both health professionals and art scholars. Select pieces in the museum, such as Duane Hansens’s hyper-realistic sculpture, Old Man Playing Solitaire, and the non-figural work of George Inness’s Spirit of Autumn, provided medium for participants to consider and practice their skills of observation and interpretation.
