Praise for Art Galleryā€™s ā€˜A Gateless Gardenā€™ featured in ā€˜Maine Sunday Telegramā€™

A laudatory review of the UNE Art Galleryā€™s current exhibition, ā€œA Gateless Garden: Quotes by Maine Women Writers,ā€ appeared in the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram on March 22, 2015.

Reviewer Dan Kany wrote: "UNEā€™s Art Gallery is an excellent venue, but I have never seen it look so good. From the first glance into the space to the closest examination of the framed works, ā€˜Gateless Gardenā€™ holds up to the closest scrutiny."

According to Kany, the exhibition, which pairs quotes from Maine women writers with black and white photographs by Kerry Michaels, "combines a here-and-now picture presence with a pulsing rhythmic sense of time provided by the literary quotes."

"Together," wrote Kany, "these create an almost musically eloquent dialogue between presence and thingā€”a sort of poetry of place."
