College of Dental Medicineās new admissions process featured in American Dental Education Associationās news bulletin

The latest Bulletin of Dental Education published by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) featured an article about the Īį°®³Ō¹Ļās College of Dental Medicine (CDM), reporting that CDM implemented the multiple mini interview (MMI) format during the fall 2015 admissions process.
The article describes the MMI format as āan innovative method to evaluate prospective students using a series of six short, structured interview stations.ā The new format, it says, āallows prospective students to experience the UNE-CDMās interprofessional approach,ā as UNEās osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse anesthesia, social work, public health, dental hygiene and nursing programs all contributed to the MMI questions.
The article explains that the MMI format assists CDM in identifying students āwho exemplify the Collegeās core values, including social responsibility, professionalism, patient-centered care, leadership, diversity, scholarship and excellence," and its continued use will contribute to the enrollment of students āwho are likely to return to the rural, underserved communities of northern New England to practice after graduation.ā
