Amy Keirstead presents seminar at Bishopās University
Amy Keirstead, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, presented a seminar at Bishopās University in Lennoxville, Quebec, on November 1, 2013. The talk, titled āOnce Upon a Photon: Using Photochemistry to tell the Ionic Liquids Story,ā provided an overview of Keirsteadās research activities at UNE that investigate the use of ionic liquids for a variety of green chemistry and nanotechnology applications.
The presentation included work carried out by a number of UNE student researchers: Robyn Gaudet (Chemistry, ā13), Annie Leslie (Neuroscience, ā13), Sean Naughton (Biochemistry and Medical Biology, ā13), Amber Zablowsky (Medical Biology, ā11), Tyler Rioux (Medical Biology, ā13), Emily Wells (Chemistry, ā14), Lindsey LaPointe (Chemistry-Secondary Education, ā15), Peter Caradonna (Biochemistry and Medical Biology, ā13) and Regina Scalise (Chemistry, ā13).
Other collaborators were Jerome Mullin, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Chemistry of Physics, and Henry Tracy, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Southern Maine.
Keirstead was visiting Bishopās as an alumna, having completed her Bachelorās Degree in Honours Chemistry in 2000.
She spent time following the seminar discussing UNEās vibrant undergraduate research culture with Bishopās students and faculty.
